Marketing Is a Dirty Word

by | Around The Block Talk

“If you’re like a lot of business owners, you might think that the word “marketer” is a synonym for scam artist.”

Nobody likes marketing.

Unless you are a marketer.

If you’re like a lot of business owners, you might think that the word “marketer” is a synonym for “scam artist.”

Sadly, that has been true far too many times.

And even if you don’t think of marketing as a scam, you probably don’t want to spend a large amount of money on something with no guarantee of making that money back.

Why Marketing Sucks

It all comes down to three factors: money, time, and focus. Marketing consumes your energy, takes you out of working on the parts of your business that you enjoy, and drains your bank account.

Too many marketing companies only care about doing the job in order to get paid.

But that doesn’t work for us at BluBambu.

Developing Leads

Connecting and building relationships with your leads means more than advertising.

You need clients who will pay you their hard earned money, and that means you need them to trust you.

Which is why a tremendous part of our focus at BluBambu is geared towards acquiring and developing leads. The outreach campaigns we develop with our clients are geared towards finding leads and developing them into clients.

There is one important caveat. People often misconstrue marketing as sales. They expect the marketing campaign to close the deal and do the sales for them. Marketing only provides leads that may become sales. It brings them to your door. It is still your responsibility to close them.

The Difference Between Marketing and Lead Generation

Marketing is the general promotion of your business. Lead generation is a specific task of finding people who want and need your service. Successful lead generation is being able to implement a plan where you can see leads, understand where they come from, and repeat the process. Marketing is just what you do to make sure people are aware of you and your services.

If you are a B2B service provider and you’re getting 10 appointments a week…

or

If you are Contractor, and you are getting 60 leads a month…

…then you have a well developed lead generation process.

If not, then it’s time to rethink how you’re getting clients.

Growing Your Business

Of course you want to be capable of doing and making more. Your business can’t thrive unless it’s growing. Your dreams aren’t small enough to fit the standard 9 to 5. That’s why you have to focus on growing your business.

When your business grows, you can grow too.
