How do You Create a Content Plan and Schedule?

by | theBlog

“Far too often, companies rush or skip this step.”

Before you can get started working on creating content, if you want your content to be organized and strategic, you will need to plan and schedule it out. Far too often, companies rush or skip this step. It creates chaos for your marketing team, and leaves you unable to produce the quality you need for your campaign. With that in mind here are the questions we ask when we put together a campaign.

Where does the content fit in your overall strategy?

Before we can discuss which of the platforms to put the content on or what content we want to create, we have to look at our overall strategy. What are we trying to accomplish? What is the end goal of this campaign and how does it serve our business goals?

Once we know how it fits and what the goal for the campaign is, we can begin to come up with the themes and ideas that will make up the campaign. We can also determine who is the best audience for our campaign and where and how we can talk to them through our posts, articles, emails, and videos.

When will you create and post the content?

Timing is important. When we are creating content we have two dates in mind. The creation date and the publishing date. We need to know when we have to have the content ready to be published and when it is actually going to be published. They should not be the same time. Having a month’s worth of content prepped ahead will make your job easier. It will also allow you to create content in batches. And when it comes to posting, we think about when our clients might see what we post. We try to avoid emails on Mondays and Fridays as those are the hardest days to get our audiences attention. We have found that Tuesdays and Thursdays are better for getting interaction.

Putting It All Together

All of these questions are designed to help you start thinking about your marketing strategy in terms of type of content, the audience and theme of that content, and how you will handle it. This will form the foundation for your final plan which we will show you how to create in a couple weeks. What you create this week will prepare you to answer some key questions from next week’s blog and discussion.

We even included a free marking strategy worksheet to get you started before your strategy session. Either way, we are here to help you create goals as you use marketing to build success.

If you want to know more about how this works and start putting together your own planning and scheduling, please set up a free strategy session to discuss it with us. And if you are in our marketing course, you can always bring it up during our monthly zoom call.

We have created a marketing training course available only to those who sign up below that includes a monthly zoom strategy call, and a private discord group where you will get to ask questions, get answers, strategies, and customized solutions that will make marketing work for your business.
